Review Methodology

I was sitting around thinking the other day and came to the conclusion that the “star” rating system isn’t quite cutting it for me anymore. I’m finding more and more books that I have mixed feelings on and so I decided to come up with my own methodology of ranking. There are 10 categories, each worth ten points, the highest possible score being 100 points.

  • Writing style
  • Plot
  • Dialogue
  • Personality of Main Character(s)
  • Love story
  • Invokes emotion
  • Synopsis accuracy
  • Consistent level of interest
  • Stays on topic
  • Accuracy of genre/genre blending

Translation:

1 Star = 10-32 points

2 Stars = 33-54 points

3 Stars = 55-75 points

4 Stars = 76-89 points

5 Stars = 90+ points
